New Angry Birds SPACE out March 22nd

18 Mar

Fans of Angry Birds are counting the days to the March 22 release of the new game that pits the feathery pig-seeking missiles against their porcine arch-enemies in the hostile environs of outer space.

Finnish game developer Rovio has been steadily doling out Angry Birds Space news and teasers for the past several weeks, even enlisting NASA flight engineer Don Pettit to demo the new game from his lofty and weightless perch aboard the International Space Station, in orbit about 243 miles above the earth.

Short glimpses of the new game for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android haven’t revealed a ton of details, but we do know that for the first time, it introduces “gravitational fields,” which will influence both the trajectory of the birds themselves, as well as how they fly through space.

Apple has today announced its new third-generation iPad, which comes packing a new high-resolution Retina display. “Until you see it you can’t understand how amazing it is”, said CEO Tim Cook.

It will be available from March 23 for 32 other countries. The iPad 2 will continue to be sold for $399 in a 16GB flavor and $529 for a WiFi + 3G 16GB model.

iPad 3 To Keep Same Pricing

Earlier this week, we heard rumors from Chinese news blog Sina Weibo that the upcoming third generation iPad would also come with a hefty price increase, due to the high resolution display.

The tablets were expected to go up approximately $80, giving the baseline 16GB WiFi iPad a price tag of $579 instead of $499. That price increase? Not true, says 9to5Mac.

In fact, Apple’s iPad prices won’t be shifting at all – not exactly a surprise, since Apple doesn’t often do price hikes. The entry level 16GB WiFi model will cost the standard $499, while upgrading to 32 or 64GB of storage adds $100 and $200, respectively.

The WiFi + 3G models are also the same price, at $629 for the base model and $729/$829 for the upgraded models.

As a side note, it appears storage configurations will remain the same, without the introduction of an 8GB iPad that DigiTimes claimed was in the works this week. It looks like it will be the standard 16/32/64 setup.

Here Comes The iPad 3! Press Event Scheduled March 7th

28 Feb

As expected, Apple on Tuesday announced an event to show off the company’s next generation iPad.  The event will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

While nobody knows for sure what changes the iPad 3 will have, it is widely expected the device will have a faster processor, improved graphics processor and a Retina Display.

All of us here at Kid Friday think that the iPad 3 will be released VERY soon after this announcement.  We’re sticking by our March 9th prediction for release in the U.S.
