New Angry Birds SPACE out March 22nd

18 Mar

Fans of Angry Birds are counting the days to the March 22 release of the new game that pits the feathery pig-seeking missiles against their porcine arch-enemies in the hostile environs of outer space.

Finnish game developer Rovio has been steadily doling out Angry Birds Space news and teasers for the past several weeks, even enlisting NASA flight engineer Don Pettit to demo the new game from his lofty and weightless perch aboard the International Space Station, in orbit about 243 miles above the earth.

Short glimpses of the new game for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android haven’t revealed a ton of details, but we do know that for the first time, it introduces “gravitational fields,” which will influence both the trajectory of the birds themselves, as well as how they fly through space.

Tool-Box That Brings Tech Into Your Garage

Craftsman Toolbox

Gone are the days when a rolling toolchest only held tools. At CES Craftsman (which really should be updated to Craftsperson) unveiled its new Contour Powered Series Tool Storage that adds a charging station and a Bluetooth connected sound system.

A set of 220W speakers lets mechanics pipe their music from an iPod or Bluetooth enabled audio device, but also answer and place hands-free calls when they’re otherwise unable to handle their phone. Because the speakers on the toolchest are powered, it does have to be plugged in, limiting its mobility around your shop. But as a consolation prize Craftsman has included a charging station for tools, batteries, and other devices.

Did You Get An App On Christmas Day? You’re Not The Only One

Christmas Day Apps Android ios

Historically, more iOS and Android apps are downloaded on Christmas than on any other day of the year.  This is due to a massive influx of smartphones and tablets given as gifts.  As fast as loved-ones can unwrap their shiny, new Galaxy IIs, iPhones, iPads, Kindle Fires, et cetera, they start loading them up with new apps.

With record-breaking mobile growth for both Apple and Google this year, Flurry has been anticipating an equally record-breaking Christmas.  In 2011, Apple’s App Store is on pace to exceed 10 billion downloads, which will double the cumulative number of downloads earned across 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Android Market also set records, more than tripling its life-to-date downloads of 3 billion, reached in May 2011, to now over 10 billion cumulative downloads reached this December.
